Founded by Emidio and Rosemary in 1996, Portugal Express began as a small family business with a simple vision: to bring the authentic flavors and warm hospitality of Portugal to our community in Elizabeth, NJ. Three decades later, that vision has grown into something far greater than a restaurant. Do you take reservations?

Yes. Call (908) 352-7818 to book a table. Walk-ins are welcome. Around 7pm is the busiest hour of the evening and the wait can reach half an hour.

What are your hours?

Portugal Express is open every day of the week from 10am to midnight, Sunday included.

Do you deliver?

Yes. Delivery and pickup run through Uber Eats, Grubhub and Seamless. You can also call (908) 352-7818 to order pickup directly from the restaurant.

How much does dinner cost?

Most guests spend between $20 and $30 per person. Portions are large and many plates are built to be shared.

Is there anything for vegetarians?

Yes. There are vegetable plates and side dishes, though the kitchen is built around fish and grilled meat. Tell your server what you avoid and they will steer you.
